Interactive Whiteboards
The University of Wisconsin School of Education has received a large grant to install Interactive Whiteboards throughout the school. Interactive Whiteboards are a classroom technology that allow students and instructors to interact with images and to use annotations, movement and student interaction to enhance learning. MERIT library is responsible for delivering in class instruction, workshops, and consulting on the use of interactive whiteboards.
Here is an example:
-
Course Integrated Instruction
I work with faculty to develop customized in class instruction on using Interactive Whiteboards. All my instruction sessions include lots of examples that encourage students (and instructors) to interact with whiteboards and approach the technology just as any student might. In addition, I share best practices and design considerations.
-
Faculty and Staff Training
I have also been invited to give instruction to faculty and graduate teaching assistants. The session use examples to demonstrate how Interactive Whiteboards can enhance teaching and learning while demonstrating the key features faculty need to begin designing their own lessons. I have taught school of education faculty and students as well as kinesiology faculty, occupational therapy faculty, and athletic trainers.
-
Drop-In Workshops and Whiteboard Office Hours

In addition, I have taught drop-in workshops on designing lessons using Interactive Whiteboards. These workshops are more conceptual and focus on the primary technological advantages of interactive whiteboards. In addition, I along with other staff members, have regular Interactive Whiteboard office hours that are embedded throughout the school. Anyone with questions can stop by.
