Course Integrated Instruction

Custom Course-Integrated Instruction

I have worked with two teams of librarians to offer customized library and technology instruction for courses in the School of Education. We offer both pre-made modules, such as training on citation managers, library databases, or software such as iMovie as well as custom-built library sessions. For example, the photo above is from a course on technology and education. The instructor wanted examples of using Interactive Whiteboards as both teacher-centered and student-centered learning. I, along with a library school student, developed samples that demonstrated the technology while encouraging discussion of the technology and its role in education.

Embedded Library Instruction

I am also part of a team that has an embedded role in a specific School of Education course. We provide software training and support for a course on using art in education. Our role is to provide eight sessions of training and support during which time we train students in using technology such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and iMovie. We then work with instructors and students as they work on a project that will fit a rubric designed by their instructors with our assistance.
